The 2 clients that I chose for experiment one were Heston Blumenthal (chef) and Steinway & Son's Pianos. I chose to put Heston on top and Steinway & Son's underground. The reason I chose the two was because I think that music and food go perfectly together. The words in bold are the words that I chose to develop my design with.
This is the chosen section I chose to develop my design with. It is a representation Heston's presentation of food as he stacks a collection of particular foods together. Organising them in an abstract way and all linking them to each other. You will see the relation between the section and the picture that I chose for Heston As for Steinway & Son's the word was orchestrate. Orchestrate to me is a smooth organised flow. I wanted to make that movement into the building by using curves for the outer walls and then adding the finesse and structure with some intricate patterns.

The Stair
Below to Middle
A sketch of the stair design for Below to the Middle. The design was intended to incorporate a ramp into the flight of stairs. This was a possible solution in transporting the pianos to the Middle. The design in the model had to be changed because of the shape of the building but it still incorporates a ramp. These stairs I think are well suited for Steinway & Son's as it gives the feeling of an elegant curved journey
Middle to Above
This stair was designed for the Middle to Above. The design was intended to be hidden form the main room to create a sense of surprise. The stairs are cantilevered and are exaggerated in length adding a sense of mystery and a feeling that something amazing awaits when the journey is complete. I think this philosophy is well suited to Heston's work

Another view of the middle. It displays the artist's work. As for Heston's area it also serves as a cafe. The Steinway & Son's dedicated area could also hold some performances as there are live grand pianos in the area.
